Description
ALERT! With the poor weather there is no prospect for seeing anything in the sky tonight, so we have told our volunteers to stay home and stay warm. You do the same! Try us next week (Wed thru Fri) for our 3 Mars Nights. The forecast for then is clear but cold -- just like Mars! Thanks!
On clear Friday evenings, the rooftop telescope Observing Deck at the TELUS World of Science is open for stargazing. The program is suitable for all ages. No reservation is required - just show up!
During 2010 the Observing Deck will be open on other nights for special events, and on many holidays during the afternoon for solar observing. Check the Events Page for details.
Dress warm as the telescopes are outside. An adjacent Classroom provides a place to warm up and to watch astronomy videos.
However, during winter, Friday Night Stargazing is canceled if temperatures are below -20° C, even if skies are clear. This is for the safety of our equipment and the comfort of our volunteers ... and you!
