Description

Looks like it might be clear tonight so come on by for a look at Mars as good as it will get until 2104! It's free but you do have to pay for parking. Note the extended hours -- 7:30 to 9:30 pm. Mars will be higher and look a little sharper the later we observe, so the best views will be toward 9 to 9:30 pm.

This is a special telescope viewing session at the TELUS World of Science to observe Mars at its closest to Earth in two years. Mars is at its closest now at 99 million km away. Dress warmly! See Mars thru our large 8-inch refractor.

Dress warm as the telescopes are outside. An adjacent Classroom provides a place to warm up and to watch astronomy videos.

Note that Mars Nights will be canceled if temperatures are below -20° C, even if skies are clear. This is for the safety of our equipment and the comfort of our volunteers ... and you!
